FHOG (First Home Owners Grant)

The First Home Owner Grant (FHOG) is a one-off grant payable to first home owners that satisfy all the eligibility criteria.

First home owners purchasing or building a new home may be eligible to receive a grant up to $10,000.
As of 3 October 2015, first home owners purchasing an established home are no longer eligible for the first home owner grant, but may still be eligible for the first home owner rate of duty. For further information, please refer to the First Home Owner Rate of Duty fact sheet.

As a guide for First Home Owners,
Vacant Land up to $ 300,000 has NO Stamp Duty.
Vacant Land between $ 301,000 and $ 400,000 has Stamp Duty on a sliding scale.
Vacant Land over $ 400,000 has full Stamp Duty.
Note: Vacant Land on it’s own does not have the Stamp Duty rebate, it is the house you build that attracts the rebate.

Established Homes up to $ 430,000 has NO Stamp Duty.
Established Homes between $ 431,000 and $ 530,000 has Stamp Duty on a sliding scale.
Established Homes over $ 530,000 have full Stamp Duty.
